The Magnitude of Movement

I awoke sad and confused, with a touch of self-pity. The comfort of the bed pulled at me, entangling me further in a web of lethargy. I knew inaction was the last thing I needed.

Despite the intense immobility, my higher self nudged me into movement, whispering, “Keep it simple. Just start with a glass of water.” Motion encouraged more motion. I performed a deep breathwork session followed by meditation. A light bulb illuminated. I then took a swim, which compounded into three hours of deep work. The negative emotions subsided. My actions had produced energy and clarity.

A lack of motivation is not special. Lethargy and laziness are not unique to you. Sadness, confusion, and self-pity are common occurrences. We all experience these states. What separates this low vibrational mode from our higher self is action.

Whenever we feel stuck, lost, demotivated, lethargic – whatever – just move. Stand, walk, run, swim, bike, lift, stretch, play. Pursue something. Action produces information; information leads to transformation. We do not think ourselves out of a rut; we move out of it.
