There is nothing like finality to suddenly show us such plentiful meaning – the smile of a friend, the kiss of a lover, or the touch of a child. Even the mundane tasks and chores burst with bounty, feeling special and unique. The truth is, they have always been special. The moment is always abundant with meaning.
We get caught in loops of regularity, suffering under the illusion that what happens now will last forever. Yet, every journey we take, relationship we relish, and path we pursue will be kissed by death. Every story has its ending.
Don’t wait for the finish line to realize its depth. Make the most of the moment. If we do this, when the ending arrives, we will look back with grounded satisfaction rather than painful regret, recognizing that we enjoyed what needed to be enjoyed when it ought to have been enjoyed. There is freedom in this mindset, as we willingly welcome whatever transition or transformation life provides next.
